Community Cat Action League

About Us

The Community Cat Action League is an all–volunteer 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of free-roaming community cats in Kent County DE.  Volunteers provide TNR training and trap loans to the public.  Additionally, volunteers offer assistance to colony caretakers.

Trap Loans:  Box traps and a drop trap are available to rent for a small refundable fee.  Trap dividers are loaned at the same time to ensure the safety of the trapper and to allow for feeding and cleaning while the cats are in the holding area.  Instructions will be given on proper use of the traps and the dividers. Traps are loaned for a period of 2 weeks and spay/neuter appointments must be set up prior to trap pick up.  To borrow traps, complete the application which can be found here

Spay-Neuter Fund:   As funding allows, colony caretakers can apply for assistance with the cost of spay-neuter for community cats.  Funding is intended to cover the cost of surgery (based upon the current minimal local fee for a community cat) and the rabies vaccination.  The caretaker is responsible for any extra costs including the distemper vaccine.   Caretakers are reimbursed upon presenting the receipt after surgery.  Verification of the colony site may be required and if so, all information will be held in strictest confidence.   To apply for funding, contact us via mail:  Community Cat Action League, PO Box 72, Cheswold, DE 19936

Food Bank:  A limited supply of cat food is donated to us periodically.  Eligibility is dependent upon need and requires that colonies be fully spayed and neutered or will achieve 100% sterilization within three months of application.   Please note:  food distribution is dependent upon donations and is intended to supplement the caretaker’s food.   The colony must be verified by a CCAL volunteer.  All information is held in strictest confidence.  To apply for donated cat food, complete the application which can be found here
